Sing to the LORD a new song; sing to the LORD, all the earth. Sing to the LORD, praise His name; proclaim His salvation day after day.
Psalm 96:1-2
It has been such a blessing to have the sounds of music and drama resounding once again throughout the BPAC. Much of the rehearsal time for ensembles and choirs has been spent in preparation for the many performances ahead in Term 2. The Little Mermaid cast are also working hard and are at the stage where they have been able to do a run of both acts. This show will be performed early in Term 3 and is one not to miss!
Term 2 events for our ensembles and choirs include the ANZAC Dawn Service, Senior Music Camp, Open Day, both Junior and Senior Ensemble Evenings, Senior Music Assembly and Junior Music Chapel. This will be an exciting term and finally an opportunity to showcase the students’ talents to a live audience. Please check the calendar and keep these dates free. There will further specific communications in Term 2.
This week has also featured performances from our Year 2 String classes and the Seraphim Choir. Each Year 2 child performed with their class in front of a very appreciative parent audience. Parents were treated to some entertaining pieces of music and learnt how difficult it is to hold a bow, using a straw. The process of learning a string instrument, the structure of the lessons, and how to care for the instrument, was also explained. The students are very excited that they can now take home their instrument to practise at home.
The Seraphim Choir featured this week in the Junior School’s Easter Chapel. They led the students and staff in worship, joining Mr Clarke in Great Things and This is Amazing Grace. They then shared the song Alleluia! Alleluia! (Roger Emerson), which created the excitement that the women at the tomb felt when they heard the news that Jesus was alive.
Last week’s Performer of the Week for the Junior School was Reuben Talpan (Year 6 and Junior School Captain). He is very skilled on the violin and wowed the students with his rendition of Souvenir De Sarasate (Potstock). This very exciting piece of music was played totally from memory and accompanied by Mr Clarke.
Enjoy a well-earned break everyone … and keep practising!
