Grade 3

Term 1 is almost over and the students have achieved so much with their learning.  They have been involved in lots of  activities throughout the term both inside and outside of the classroom.  A terrific effort, we'd like to wish everyone a safe and happy break.

Literacy

This Term, the Grade 3 students have looked at persuasive texts along with other mentor texts developing reading comprehension, as well as understanding the author's craft. The students looked at developing their reading stamina and practicing their reading goals. In writing the students learnt how to write a persuasive piece using correct structure and language devices.

Maths

In Maths, students have focused on counting, and developing their number sequence, by increasing and decreasing, skip counting by 2’s, 5’s and 10’s. They have consolidated their understanding of skip counting at different starting points.  The students have explored and identified odd and even numbers. The Grade 3's are currently working on their knowledge of place value concepts.

Inquiry

This Term the Grade 3 students, explored rules and laws associated with local governance.  They have looked at the difference between ‘rules and ‘laws', and 'rights and responsibilities of being a good citizen. The students had opportunities to discuss why rules are important and the consequences if rules aren’t followed.
