Sports Update

Division and Regional Swimming Championships

In other sports news, we mentioned in the newsletter a couple of Fridays ago that Jaime H from year 6 was off at the Nillumbik Division Swimming Championships at Watermarc.

Well, he smashed the Districts and had qualified for both his Breaststroke and Freestyle races at the Regional Carnival which encompasses students from around 270 schools. The exciting news is that he finished 2nd in both the Freestyle

and Breaststroke, which is an outstanding achievement

2022 House Cross Country

By the time you read this  newsletter the students in years 3-6 will have been to Central Park in Eltham, to participate in the House Cross Country Carnival. During this event all students in years 3-6 compete in a 2 or 3km cross country race around the oval. This event serves two main purposes. Firstly it is a chance for all students to help their house compete for the Cross Country Shield, currently held by Green House. The second function is for the students to trial for the Our Lady’s Cross Country Team that will compete against the other schools in our Eltham District Cross Country Carnival on 18th  May this year.

2022 Weekly District Sport News

In even more sports news we have started training for our teams that participate in the Eltham District School Sports Association, weekly Winter Sports. This District group comprises Eltham East Primary, Eltham North Primary, Eltham Primary, Research Primary, St Thomas Nth Greensborough, Eltham College and ourselves. All students from years 4-6 will participate with a few year 3’s possibly helping out when we are short. We will field teams in AFL, Netball, Bat Tennis and Korfball.

The team lists are up, we have started training and we will start games next term.
