Reconciliation

On the 24th of March some year 4’s did  Reconciliation. I thought that I had to go up to the priest and say my sins. The preparation was quite fun, the activities were fun too. Four people from our school (OLHC) and two teachers and 1 student from another school read at the services. It wasn't that scary because I was with my parents and my friend was supporting me. In the leadup we were learning about forgiveness and kindness.   Harry

It was a lovely celebration of the communal right of forgiveness and I would like to congratulate all the students!

Classes attending mass

On the 25th of March the Juniors attended mass to celebrate the Annunciation. Before the juniors attended we made sure to be aware of the scripture for the day and if there were any feast days. It was the Feast of the Annunciation. On this day we celebrate that the Angel Gabriel visited the Virgin Mary announcing that she was going to be the mother of Jesus. Even though Mary did not understand completely, she trusted God’s plan for her life.

The students followed the mass beautifully and were able to answer questions posed by Father Michael. There was also a statue of Mary placed on the altar and students were also able to learn about symbols and images of Mary.

The words of the “Hail Mary” come from the Angel’s greeting: “Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you.” God’s grace lives in each one of us.

Juniors have also been learning the Hail Mary within class prayers.

Lent/Easter

Classroom teachers and students are continuing to focus on Lent with Caritas Project Compassion, almsgiving, within the classroom.

Students are learning about Holy Week events. There will also be an opportunity to head to the Church to pray the Stations of the Cross.

Easter is a great reminder that Christ died and rose once and for all and for each one of us. His death and resurrection can transform our lives as we endeavour to live lives that know the freedom of goodness – lives that have love for our neighbour, lives that respect all creation, lives that restore hope and mercy.
