Staff vs Students Netball Match

Staff and Year 12 students took to the court in the third instalment of the inaugural EF Green Shield, with staff having previously taken out the swimming and athletics events.

The Year 12’s were keen to get on the scoreboard in the year-long event and they decided that netball was the way to get it done.

After a delayed start (thanks in part to staff having completely forgotten the event was on and students placing a high priority on hitting their macros), the game was on.

After a frenzied start, with both sides keen to establish an advantage, Leah Holt was finally able to take the lid off the ring to register the first score of the game, allowing the staff to take a small lead into the first break. Laura McLinden implored her charges to “lift” and “do more” in the second term as they rang the changes, searching for an improvement.

The second term started the way the first ended, with Leah scoring buckets at will. With Mr McClure and Mrs Fisher offering steady defence, the Year 12’s found it hard to break through to score but Ethan Keenan was able to draw contact from Mr McClure and, much like his free throw routine, found nothing but net.

The third and final term (time was a factor) saw many changes, with Staff giving their favourite Bulldog, Hoops, a well-earned rest as the 12’s stacked their defence with height, being lead by Jeff DeBast and Ethan Page; full athleticism on display.

Staff were able to pull away with the win and take a 3-0 lead in the Shield heading into the first break of the year! Well done to all who competed and participated in the event with a big thanks to Emma Thompson and Reagan Fulford, who umpired.

Middle Years Sale Yards Excursion

On Tuesday 5th April, our Year 9/10 Agricultural Science class visited the sale yards in Miners Rest. Agricultural Science (known as "Farmer Wants to Farm" at Beaufort Secondary College) is aimed at students who may be interested in working in the agricultural industry in the future. As part of their animal welfare studies, our students were involved in field observations of the farm animals while at the sale yards. It was a fantastic way for our students to develop their knowledge in a more hands-on way of learning.

Year 8 English

Our Year 8 students have concluded the term with developing their own poems in English. Below are some of the poems created by our Year 8 Poets!

Grill'd Local Matters

We are proud to announce that our Hands on Learning program has received the most tokens in the Local Matters jar at Grill'd Ballarat! This means our Hands on Learning program will receive a $300 donation to use towards new tools and equipment. Beaufort Secondary College would like to thank all those in the school and Beaufort communities who purchased burgers during March. The support is greatly appreciated and will assist us in creating worthwhile learning experiences in the Hands on Learning program.
