5/6 LEGOland Excursion!

On the 7th of August the year 5s and 6s from SJV, went to LEGOland at Chadstone to learn about Systems and the Design Process. The first thing that we passed was a big section full of lego buildings, that was made to look like Melbourne. It had the MCG, Federation Square, Luna Park and heaps more Melbourne landmarks.
The first activity that we did was watching a short 4D cinema movie, with these really cool glasses. It felt like we were in the movie in REAL LIFE! This was because the glasses that we were told to wear made it look so real. The movie was 4D and we were sprayed by water, felt the wind and there was even smoke!
After we visited the Melbourne section, we went to the workshop. We designed a Lego creation that worked like a merry go round. The merry go round had 3 types of gears, one with 8 teeth, another with 24 teeth and the last one with 40 teeth. We worked in groups of 4 where we took turns building the merry go round. We learnt a lot.
It was then time for the best part of it ALL…the…..RIDES. There were 2 rides. The first one was similar to a train, you hopped on with 4 friends and an adult. It was like a war game. The other ride was a Harry Potter ride. You had to get strapped in and when the ride started you had to use the pedals on the ride to go higher. The more you pedaled the higher you went. The rides ended up being super enjoyable.
Over all the day was full of really entertaining activities. We would definitely go to Legoland again!!!!

On Wednesday the 7th of August we went on an excursion to LEGOLAND at Chadstone! In Legoland we got to do lots of activities. We went on rides, we had a look at the Mini Land (it was about Melbourne landmarks built with Lego, such as Luna Park, Eureka Tower, MCG, Federation Square and lots more) and we watched a 4D movie called Spell Breaker. In the workshop we learnt about systems and got to build a merry-go-round. We also learnt about gears in the car and how to use them.

On Wednesday, all of the five and sixes went to LegoLand to learn more about our Inquiry topic, Systems. We did lots of activities that were related to systems and designing. The activities that we did were building Lego, going on different rides, watching a 4D movie and using our creativity and imagination. One of the favourites was where there was a cart and the objective was to save the princess and king. To save the princess and the king we had to shoot these monsters which were worth points. Every monster was worth a different amount of points and the monsters that were worth a lot were hard to shoot. The activity that was related to Systems the most was building a merry-go round out of Lego with gears. We used gears and a handle to make the Lego person on the merry-go round spin. We got a sheet to fill in and a booklet to help us build the merry-go round. We learnt that smaller gears make the merry go round spin less and the bigger gears makes it spin more. After, we went to a Lego version of Melbourne and it had all the places in Melbourne but in lego form. There were lots of real life attractions such as the Eureka tower, Federation Square and the MCG. It looked exactly the same as Melbourne because it was built by very skilled artists. We all had a great time learning about systems at Legoland and we would definitely go there again anytime soon.

On the 7/8/19, the 5/6 year level went to Legoland. The teachers decided to let us go because it was a fun experience to learn about the design process of Lego. We first went into the room with all the of the Lego creations. There were buttons that would make the mechanisms work.
After that, we went to a room with rides and a playground. We skipped all that and went to the 4D theater. The movie that was playing was called Spell Breaker. While we were in the queue we saw Hamish from Hamish And Andy.
Next, we went to the workshop to make a merry go round with gears and after we ate our lunch.
Then, we had free time until we left I went on plenty of rides. There were 2 rides the first one I went on was called Merlin's Apprentice Ride the second ride I forgot what it was called but we sat in a moving chair and started shooting projected monsters.
In conclusion, I had a great time and it was a great experience I would definitely go back again if I had the chance.

On Wednesday the 7th of August we went to Legoland.
When we arrived we had some snacks. When we arrived inside we saw a lego city of Melbourne it was very cool when the lights turned on at pretend night time
When we went past the lego city of Melbourne we went to this area called the Discovery Centre where we could go on rides, go in a play centre and watch a 4D movie which was our favourite because the effects were on fleek! When it was raining in the movie we got water on us and when it was in the cold area the air was cold.
The next activity we did was, we built cars to drive down a ramp. Ours didn’t break when it went down the enormous ramp. It was very hard to build our car and find the materials. Before we built the car, we built and tested a merry go round, we had to test which gear was faster than the other.
There was this big flying Harry Potter ride that went round and round we had to peddle to keep us in the air. There was also this ride when we had to save a princess from the evil monsters, every time we shot a target we got a certain amount of points like 2000 for a spider or 30 for an ogre etc.
Then we went back to school and that was the end of our fun excursion.

On Wednesday the 7th of August the year fives and sixes went on an excursion to Legoland.
Firstly, we ate our snacks and fruit outside the Lego building. After that we went inside a room to make a merry go round,we had to get into groups of four. Once we were in our groups we got our Lego kit and an instruction book to help us. My group started to build it. It was fun and I learnt a lot.
After that we had to build a car so we could race it, my group built a car with four wheels. Then we raced it with other cars, our car didn't win.
Then we ate our snack for a while then we went back into Legoland.
Next, me and my friend went on a ride. There was a long queue but the queue went quickly and before I knew it was our turn. The ride was really fun, it went up, down and around, to control it we had to pedal.
Lastly, we went to watch a 4D movie, fog came out of this box and you could smell smoke it was so cool. At this one point it felt like it was raining because it was so cold.
And that was the end of a really fun day.

On Wednesday the 5 / 6 s went to LegoLand. We went to Legoland because our topic for inquiry is Systems.
Our first activity was the workshop. That’s where we learnt about gears and how they work. Gears are a circular thing with teeth which are the bumps on the outside of it. What we made in the workshop was a merry-go-round. We worked in groups of four to make out merry-go-rounds.
Next we built cars in the same groups we were in for making the merry-go rounds , after we built our cars we raced them with other groups. Some cars broke apart and some won the race . It was really fun to see the different pieces of Lego to build the cars.
The two rides that we went on were really fun. We went on the rides and the first one we went one was Kingdom Quest. On that ride we shot some targets to save the princess .Inside the Kingdom Quest it was really dark but it was very cool to see what was inside. At the end we could see the points of how many targets we shot.
Next activity we did was the Cinema, we watched Nexo Knights. It had cool effects such as flashing lights, water sprays, colored lights and much more.
Overall it was a really fun and a good learning experience. Everything we did was so amazing I would like to do everything all over again.

Legoland was a 8.5 out of 10 in our opinion. It was really fun because we got to do many activities, such as Kingdom Quest which was a ride and you had to shoot stuff while you were riding, build a car activity, the workshop. We also watched a 4D movie and we got a little splash out of the movie and that was really fun. We went to the Merlin's Apprentice which was like a merry go round but faster and finally we went to this mini playground with a lot of fun stuff inside of the playground.

At Legoland we had to design and create. Our topic is ‘Lights, Camera, Action!’ which is about Systems, designs and technology. Our activities were the Discovery Centre, Workshop and 4D Cinema. At the Discovery Centre (mini land), it took 15 expert model builders to create a model of Melbourne. It took over 5000 hours to complete the project. The builders went to the city and took photos of the buildings to redesign it in Lego. To build a Lego version of the Eureka Tower took approximately 356 hours. For the workshop we had to get in a group of 4 and build a merry go round, with gears and mechanics. The activity was fun because it taught us how to design and build something with gears.

Overall Legoland was a good experience for our inquiry topic. We learned the system of how gears worked. We went on fun rides, watched a 4D movie and we had lunch. Lunch was Kevin’s favourite part of all because after we had lunch we were allowed back in to have free time and go on the rides and enjoy. This amazing adventure is an adventure we will never forget because we saw Hamish from Hamish and Andy at the line for the 4D but honestly Legoland was an incredible trip.

On the 7th of August 2019 all year 5 and year 6’s went to Legoland to learn about systems and the design process. During the time that we were there everyone went inside we saw the fantastic mini Lego Melbourne and all the small Lego cars and trams move around.
Once we had passed the mini Lego city of Melbourne we went in a workshop and we were met by some of the staff at Legoland. We had to build a merry go round using these gears to spin the merry go round. Then we answered some questions on a sheet. After the workshop we had a snack break, when we went back inside we were told that everyone had free time.
There were all these cool activities and my favorite one was were we had to build Lego cars. I built 2 awesome cars, they went so fast down the ramp. Then we had to leave and I was so sad to leave my Lego cars behind.

On Wednesday the 7th of August, the year 5/6s went to Legoland as an excursion for our term theme, Systems, “Lights, Camera, Action”. Legoland is located in Chadstone Shopping Centre. The place includes, a workshop, where you can make your own Merry go Round using Lego sets, some rides, and many more activities. Behind the workshop, there was an aquarium that included where you could build a treasure chest design, and a lot of unique Lego structures that included a shark man, seaweed, etc.
In Legoland Miniland, there were a lot of structures of real buildings, such as the Eureka Tower, and city skyscrapers. Miniland took a team of fifteen expert model builders over 5, 000 hours to build. A fun fact is that in Legoland, there are over two million Lego bricks! The Eureka Tower took over 365 hours to build. There was even a mini theatre that showed a 4D mini movie, with wind, water and even snow, all under one roof. The movie that we watched was called “Spellbreaker”.
There was a little playground with slides and places to climb. There were even rides there, which were called “Kingdom Quest”, and “Merlin’s Apprentice Ride”. In “Kingdom Quest”, there were four stages. The overall aim was to stop the trolls, and skeletons to reach the princess, by shooting them with lasers.
“Merlin’s Apprentice Ride” was to pedal the couch into the air, and the faster you pedal, the higher you soar.
Overall, it was a very fun and exciting experience, we all had a very good time making new relationships with different people. We also learnt a few facts about Lego and the design process. Most rated the experience around 8.5 out of 10. Legoland was an amazing experience for all of us.

On Wednesday the 7th of August the year fives and sixes went on an excursion to Legoland, it was related to our topic Systems because of the design process. We made a merry-go-round which was really hard and complicated because if you put the Lego in the wrong spot you would have to take it all out and start from the beginning. Although it was frustrating I found this activity really fun and educational because we were learning where the Lego pieces had to go. Then we were allowed to make cars. After we finished making the cars we had a race and most of the cars broke down. Miss Rak’s car won the race and only tiny little decorations came off. I learnt that the more Lego pieces you put on the heavier it gets and if it's heavy it will go slow. Afterwards we ate our snacks and fruit. After we finished eating we went on some really cool and fun rides. We had free time so most of us upgraded our cars. After a while we watched a 4D movie it had lots of features like fog, sprinkles of water and wind. Personally, my favorite was the merry-go-round because we had to figure out where the Lego pieces had to go, it was fun putting it together and the second time it went even faster than before.

On the 7/8/2019 all the year fives and sixes went to Legoland. When we got into the bus it was a 15 minute wait. When we got to Chadstone, we had to go on a few escalators to get to the top floor that had Legoland on top. When we got there we ate our fruit and snack after we ate our fruit and snack finally we were allowed in, so we went in and saw a Lego plane and a camera.
We went into a Lego Melbourne city. You could interact with some buildings and little Lego figures. There were towers, a digger man, a horse race and even a boat ride. Every maybe 5-10 minutes the city scene would change from day to night.
When we finally exited the Lego Melbourne we went to a multi zone. There was a playground and there was a zone where you could play and build with Lego. Max built a car and tested it on a giant ramp, it didn’t work so Max made another car, and it still didn’t work. Alastair had the idea to launch a single tire, it was meant to go into the hole. BUT it went beyond the hole, it went so far.
After that Alastair, Max, Olivia and Amber went into the playground. We went on a slide and Olivia got a burn some how and then after that we buried Olivia with foam Lego blocks. After we exited the playground we went to a 4D movie inside Legoland. Later we went to the workshop. We had to build merry go round that wasn’t exactly the same. Alastair and Max finished it easily.
After we exited the workshop we went to have lunch. Lunch was pretty good, we enjoyed it. Next we went to a ride where we had to shoot ogres. They were fake guns and the ogres were projected. There was a long wait before Alastair, Max, Olivia, and Amber could go on the ride and at the end of the ride we saw a TERRIFYING baby dragon in Alastair's opinion.
Finally we had to leave Chadstone. It was a 15 minute drive back. When we got to school we got to play outside until the bell for home time went.
