Around The School - Mr O'Toole, Assistant Principal

Last Friday as a whole school community we celebrated a Graduation Mass for our departing Year 6 students. The Mass, celebrated by our wonderful Parish Priest Father Anthony was a fabulous occasion and highlighted the many and varied talents and achievements of a truly great group of young men and women as they take another step in their life journey. Congratulations to our School Captains Alice Blackey and Charlie McKenzie who spoke brilliantly on behalf of Year 6 to the school, staff and parents thanking them for their on-going support and encouragement during their primary years of education. All the best Year 6 it has been fantastic to teach you and share many memorable experiences with you, particularly this year.

This week we will celebrate an absolutely fantastic school year at our Annual Presentation Evening tomorrow night. It certainly is a night when as a school community we can celebrate the wonderful partnerships between our school and families whilst acknowledging the many outstanding efforts that have taken place throughout the year. Whilst there will be many award recipients during the night the evening provides us with a unique opportunity to personally thank every child at our school as each student contributes special gifts, talents and qualities that make our school the fantastic place that it is. I look forward to seeing everyone at the TRECC tomorrow night.

I would also like to thank all families for their on-going support during the year. Parents, grandparents and friends offer such invaluable assistance in so many ways throughout the year and without it the children and the school would be a lesser place.

A huge thank you to Mrs Hanes, Mrs Holland, Mrs Bearman and all the wonderful staff for their ongoing efforts and generous support throughout the year. They work tirelessly to ensure that the children at our school get the best possible education as well as being offered opportunities to shine in so many areas. All of us here at St Joseph's are very lucky to have such a dedicated team of teachers in our school.

Finally, on a personal note I have thoroughly enjoyed my six years at St Joseph's, I cannot believe how quickly the time has gone by, especially this year. Thank you to everyone who have made these six years such a wonderful experience for me. Thus, it is with sadness that I say farewell for the next twelve months. There is definitely something very special here at our beautiful school, something we can all truly appreciate and cherish  as we move into our new facilities.

It is difficult to believe that the end of this week will draw the curtain down on another successful year. This one seems to have flown at an even greater pace than most. Therefore, I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a very safe and Merry Christmas with family and friends. I hope you enjoy the festive season and have a wonderful new year.
