Senior School Learning

Grades 3 to 6

Senior School Physical Education

This term the Year 3-6 students have been learning more about sports that use equipment to strike an object or ball. They have developed some hand-eye coordination and team work skills to work with partners or teams to participate in skills and activities for sports including badminton, hockey, T-ball and bat tennis.

This week students are learning about golf and cricket. They will participate in 2 golf clinics run by an outside facilitator, Chris Crabbe. He is from Golf Australia and will be visiting our school in the last few weeks of term, to teach students skills and techniques for golf. This learning will culminate with a round of mini golf at our end of term excursion. We can’t wait to see the students put their putting skills to the test!

Also coming up in a week’s time, is the Cricket Carnival. Students have had the option to sign up for a team of 8 or for cricket clinics. Those that are in a team will play a series of round robin games against other teams from our MVA partnering schools. The clinic will allow more learning and skill development for those that selected this option.

We have battled some of Mother Nature’s elements this term (from strong wind, hail. torrential rain and sunshine!) to complete a successful unit of learning on some sports that may not have been within the comfort zone of many of our students. We have been pleased to see the dedication, persistence and resilience during P.E. to try something new and have some fun along the way. We look forward to sharing our ‘Badminton Champions’ with you in the next newsletter too!

Senior School Expo

Year 3/4 classes have worked on the Garage Band to create new songs from a variety of genres of music. Come along to the Expo to see their costumes and dance moves!

Year 5/6 classes have worked on developing scripts and performance skills. They have been busy rehearsing their unique plays and will be performing to our buddy classes and parents at the Expo. They are entertaining and are sure to make you laugh out loud!
