Senior School Report

Wow! It is amazing to think that Term 2 has been and gone and semester 1 is finished. It has been wonderful to see the growth in our senior students settling into their new year levels and focusing their efforts on their progress and learning. Their improvement as young adults has been vast.

Term 2 has had some brilliant highlights, including Year 10 Camp & Work Experience week bookending our year 10’s term. Our Year 11 and 12’s undertaking Unit 3 & 4 subject went through their practice GAT sessions, acquired feedback on their written pieces in preparation for the VCAA GAT on the 15th of June. Our year 12’s participated in their first wellbeing excursion, a yoga session with Shayna From Ballarat Iyengar Yoga  - practicing ways in which they can practice mindfulness and stretching to improve their wellbeing in their final year of schooling.

Term 2 ended with the culmination of semester 2, the completion of the Year 10, 11 and year 12 practice exams. This provides a valuable opportunity for feedback to students on how best to tackle their “next steps” in learning. Revision is the key in senior school and should be completed by students incrementally across each day and week to ensure that long term memory and mastery of skills can be developed. You can support your child by ensuring the use a study timetable, enquiring about what they are revising and quizzing them using their subject books.

With the end of the year fast approaching our seniors have begun the process this term of thinking about their career and pathway aspirations for their futures – participating in a series of workshops, career based projects and course confirmation days this term to formalise their 2024 plans. In line with this our year 12’s embark this term on deciding on their Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC) preferences, choosing their future TAFE and University courses. This is a crucial step in our students future and we encourage families and our students to consider their options carefully to ensure they lock in a two year program that best suits aspirations.

We look forward to the opportunities these events pose to work with students and families together to achieve successful outcomes for each and every senior student.
