Meet our Year 4 team

Mrs Simone Vitas

I have worked at Karoo Primary School for many years and have been part of many changes along the way. My own children attended Karoo and I have always valued being part of a caring and supportive community that learns and works together for our students. I thoroughly enjoy my role as a Learning Specialist as it provides me with the opportunity to work closely with a range of students and teachers across the school, whilst striving towards our shared goals. My passion is Maths and I enjoy passing on this passion to students whilst supporting them to develop a growth mindset. When I’m not working, I enjoy cooking and spending time with my family and friends.

Mrs Michele Murray

I have been a teacher at Karoo Primary School for 27 years. Before I began at Karoo I taught in a variety of schools including special education. Educating children is my vocation and I have experienced many changes and cycles in education. People come and go with a variety of ideas and good intentions but the most important is to build and retain relationships with the children and their parents. Giving a child a solid grounding in the basic building blocks of numeracy and literacy is essential for life long success. The wellbeing status of the child is as equally important as a happy child achieves success. In the very early days when the school was being established my husband was on the planning committee and as a family we helped plant the beautiful trees on the school site. Our 3 children were also students at Karoo and are now adults with fond memories of their primary school years and who still keep solid connections with their friends.I feel absolutely privileged being a long-standing staff member and witnessing in numerous instances the growth of children from primary school to young adult hood. There is nothing better than having a career that makes a difference in young lives.

Miss Karla Markovic

Hi, my name is Karla Markovic and I’m very proud to be the teacher of 4K at Karoo Primary School. As I’ve discussed with many of our families and staff, I feel extremely lucky to teach such a wonderful group of students who consistently try their best to embody the Karoo values of kindness, personal excellence, and tenacity. I am grateful to be part of a highly knowledgeable, supportive, and dedicated team here at Karoo. I love teaching and I strive to foster a fun, safe and supportive environment for our students to grow academically, socially, and emotionally. In my spare time I love being active, travelling, spending quality time with family and friends, and relaxing at the beach!

Mrs Tanya Grimes

I absolutely love the community spirit and inclusive nature of Karoo Primary School! As a teacher, l strive to support students in becoming successful learners who are confident, creative and empowered. I am an advocate for instilling values that promote a commitment to learning and encourage my students to persist and take risks in order to manage their knowledge and skills to meet the challenges of the future. Karoo Primary School provides the opportunity to nurture this growth in a positive, fun environment. Outside of school, I enjoy brunching at new café spots, visiting the beach and creating fun memories with my family and friends.
