Education Open Night @ Karoo PS

What a sensational night we had last week on Wednesday at our Education Week Open Night! Thank you to all those that came along to discover all the amazing programs and learning opportunities that are provided for our students and community at Karoo PS.

So much fun was had, as everyone moved across the school to visit all the learning spaces to discover the whole school Wellbeing, English and Mathematics initiatives, and enjoy learning more about our Specialist Classes.  All visitors were welcome to play a song in the Music room or add to the beautiful collaborative flower artwork in the Art room.  As well as swim in the Great Barrier Reef or dance with Bluey in the Media room, overcome the obstacle challenges at PE in the gym, build circuits in Science or meet Archie, our Wellbeing Dog!

It was a pleasure to be able to share all the AMAZING learning opportunities that take place every day at our school.  A huge thank you also goes out to our teachers and staff for their preparation, time and commitment to make the night a success.  We are extremely proud and fortunate to have such a dedicated, knowledgeable and passionate staff.

Crack the Code Competition

Another exciting draw card to the night was the 'Crack the Code' competition.  A big congratulations to Ollie B from 1H for being the lucky winner

Garden Club

Our Garden Club has continued to work hard this term to improve our school.  All the members have been enjoying the Autumn season and have been working together to clear up a few of our beautiful fallen leaves.  It is a BIG job, and a few Garden Club members may have needed a little rest in the comfy leaves to regain their energy!

On behalf of our school community a HUGE thank you goes out to all Garden Club members for the work they do to improve our school.

Attendance

Attendance continues to be a key focus at Karoo PS.   We know that every day in school is important for our student's academic and social development.  Each learning opportunity builds upon the previous one and therefore missing a single day can have a significant impact on a student's learning and wellbeing.

Along with the creation of our Attendance Motto, we have been regularly communicating via compass about the importance of attendance, the impact absences can have and the processes to follow if you are planning an extended holiday.

Therefore, I would like to share with you our 'Karoo PS's Approach to Student Attendance' overview.  This provides a clear outline of why attendance at school is important and the process that will occur if a student's attendance needs support to improve.

I hope you all have a fantastic fortnight!

Kind Regards,
