Grade 5/6

Mrs Dallas and Mr Ward

DASH

We are almost half way through of our DASH (Dynamic.Active.Safe.Healthy) program. Carol from Blue Light visits our 5/6's for 2 hours in the afternoon on Thursdays to build the student's knowledge about community, how it is important to be a part of it and what we can do to help others. The students have been brainstorming on areas such as their values and strengths, what is fair and unfair and what community means to them. Over the next few weeks, students will be grouping and starting to create their project which will be judged by staff and community members and the 2 winners will receive $2000 to bring their community project to life.

Leadership Conference

Last Thursday, all students who hold a leadership position attended the GRIP Student Leadership Conference at Federation University in Ballarat. 600 students from all over the region attended this conference where they participated in games, questions and answering and learning about the fundamentals of how to be a successful leader.

They learnt how to be an "Others First" leader, which involves hearing and thinking of others first, how leadership can be impactful to a range of different people and how ideas can be catered for the whole school, a small group and individuals.

There was a lot of great tips for all our students to take out from the day and to implement in their day to day lives of being a leader in our community.
