News and Notices

From the Principal

As I am sure you are aware after receiving all the permission slips, we are in the middle of a very busy and exciting term. We have asked for a contribution for some of the activities, but I would like to reiterate that no-one should miss out because you are unable to pay. Just let the office know if you are needing help.

Our PE focus is playing games and we are introducing our children to 'old fashioned' run around games. We have noticed that our children are not always able to be gracious losers and we are trying emphasise the fun element of games. It would be great if you could reiterate this at home.

I would like to give a special congratulations to all the children who took part in our trial run around the village. Every one of them finished the race and they all supported each other. Thank you to all the parents who stood in the pouring rain to act as marshalls.

Permission Slips

I apologise for the large number of permission slips that have come through in the last week. Some of them are for optional activities and some of them are for in-school activities where we need permission for your child to take part. Please complete these and send them back to school as soon as possible.

Up to Date Contact Information

If you have moved, changed your phone number, or changed your email address, please could you make sure that the school has the updated information. With all these unusual weather events, it is more important than ever that we are able to get hold of you.

Plasters and Tissues

Thank you to everyone who has contributed plasters and tissues. We now have a wonderful stock.

Pink Shirt Day

We had great support for Pink Shirt Day and collected $38 which we will give to the Pink Shirt Appeal.

Disco

FORS will be holding a school disco on Friday 23 June from 5.30pm to 7.30pm. We would love parents to come along and buy a burger and a brownie while they have a chat with others form the school community. We are also trialing allowing older siblings who are younger than fourteen to come along to the disco, subject to the same school expectations as our Ridgeview children.

The theme of the disco is Glitz, Glam and Sparkle.

A notice with an order form for food and tickets for the disco will come home soon.

Tough Guy and Gal

Also known as the Mud Run, this is an event that has become quite popular with our children. It takes place early in Term 3 (1 September) in Kumeu. The children run through a muddy obstacle course and then have a shower afterwards. Every entrant gets a medal. The cost this year is $30, but school will help out if this is beyond your reach.

Please diarise...

  • KOS meeting with Constable Louise on Wednesday 31 May at 6pm. Childcare will be available.
  • Matariki breakfast on the last day of term!

Assembly/Book Character Parade

Week 6 is book week and we usually celebrate Book Week with a book character dress up day and parade. This will take place at our assembly at 9am on Friday 2 June 2023. Please come along with your cameras and take photos of everyone all dressed up.

Spare Clothes

We seem to have moved into the wet time of year again when children of all years slip and fall in the mud. Please can you make sure that your child has a spare set of clothes in their bag - it does not have to be school uniform.
