Principal’s Message

Mrs Katherine Baird

Dear Parents and Carers,

Congratulations to all of our students who have represented themselves and our school with pride over the last week. It was so lovely to hear of our students participation in many activities over the past week including the Eisteddfod and sporting events outside of school. Thank you to Sandy Clarke for the preparation of our students for the Small Schools Choir event held at the Gunnedah Eisteddfod last week. It is always refreshing to hear when students have challenged themselves to do something that can be outside of their comfort zones. It can be nerve-wracking at times and requires bravery, however the learnings and experiences we gain from stepping outside of our comfort zone can outweigh the initial fears.

It was such a pleasure to attend the Catholic Schools Week Mass in Armidale last week, where Ms Traynor and I were able to see Nan Fran receive her award for her incredible contribution to Sacred Heart School. It was a very proud day, recognising the ongoing support that Nan Fran has provided to our school.

We will hold our next PTF meeting on Tuesday 13 June at 5:30pm. This will be an extra-ordinary meeting as we will need to elect a new representative in the role of secretary. Nominations for this position are open until Friday 9 June. If you wish to nominate for this role, please forward your nomination to either myself or Mr Sam Plevey. We will also be holding our next School Advisory Council meeting on Tuesday 20 June at 5:30pm.

Transition for 2024 has commenced and we are very happy to welcome our new Kindergarten students for next year.

If you know of anyone wishing to enrol their child for 2024 and participate in the transition program this year, please let me know. Program details and enrolment forms are available by contacting Ms Traynor in the Office.

If you know of anyone who is intending to enrol at Sacred Heart either in Kindergarten or any other year group for 2023, please encourage them to contact me at school.

Take care,

Kath Baird
