News from Four /Five

Inquiry - grade 4's

In our Sustainability unit, we have been learning about lifecycles, ecosystems and rainforests.  This week we had a visitor, Clare for ECOSS who played a sustainability game with us.  Students pretended to be tall mountain ash trees, pobblebonks, greater gliders and a variety of other creatures from the rainforest.  We saw how all the creatures depended on each other, and when one 'disappeared' many other creatures were affected.

 

Winter sports- grade 5's

Last Friday we took the grade 5's to the Upper Yarra center and met with all the other schools from the valley to come together and play a range of winter sports. Some of these sports the children had never done before. Everyone had a great day out and got to try new and exciting sports such as frisbee, hula hooping, tennis, athletics, and hip hop dance.  Here are some of the photos from the day.

Maths -Fractions with Fairy Bread

In maths, we cut out fairy bread into different fractions and then counted by those fractions. 

 

 

 

Assembly next Tuesday

 

Next week we will be hosting the afternoon assembly which has been moved to Tuesday afternoon due to the long weekend. We hope to see you all there!
