New School Times - Term 3
See our new daily schedule for students
As you know, there has been a great deal of communication to the broader community seeking feedback on the changes to the school day. Based on feedback from students, parents and staff, we have decided on the following model which we believe balances creating an optimum learning environment with supporting the family and employment needs of our community.
Students and the Community were invited to respond via a Microsoft Form (survey), email and phone. The principal team were also on hand to respond to anyone in person who came to the office. The preferred model for 62 per cent of respondents is Model 1:
It is important to note that this new model shifts after school detentions to start at 3:15pm and conclude at 4:15pm. In addition, it increases our ability to consider lunchtime detentions as part of a staged consequence system, something not currently possible with a single 25 minute break.
We appreciate that this new timetable may require some change to daily routines. We hope that the six weeks' notice will give families ample time to consider how to best make this work. Our library is open until 4:00pm for students who wish to complete homework or read, and we have after school "Back on Track" supports for students who would like teacher assistance with any work they are completing. We also have staff on duty for a window after school to supervise students still on site, so families can be assured that students will be safe and supervised should they not be picked up right on the bell.
Excitingly, this new timetable will give us the ability to greatly increase our extra-curricular offerings during the longer lunch time. We are keen to hear from students and families on what they would like to see us provide, so please reach out if you have any suggestions to add to this conversation!
