Staff Profile

Aoife Lee

My time at Scoresby began almost 12 years ago in 2007 as a Graduate Media and Humanities teacher.

During my many years at Scoresby my life has changed drastically. I have married and had 3 children; Roy (7), Niamh (5) and Ailbe (3). I am currently working 2 days a week as a Humanities teacher.

The flexibility Scoresby has provided me with as a working mother allows me to follow my passion for teaching and still have time at home with my children, which I appreciate greatly.

When I started at Scoresby I worked mostly in the Media department, but after having children I have focussed on teaching Humanities, which is my favourite subject to teach. I love sharing my knowledge with the students and watching them make discoveries about the subjects that I am passionate about. I am currently one of the Humanities teachers for Year 7, 8 and 9.

Despite wanting to be a teacher from a very young age, it was not the path I initially chose out of university. After completing my degree, I worked in an office for a year. I quickly realised that it was not for me. I returned to university to obtain my Diploma of Education so that I could follow my dream of being a teacher. It turned out to be one of the best decisions I have made in my life, as I love being in the classroom, and I love teaching at Scoresby which is probably why I have hung around for so long!
