PFA Report

PFA News

Thursday 19th March is National Ride2School Day, where students and parents are encouraged to ride their bikes to school. We are requesting a gold coin donation on the day, with all proceeds going to the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal. The PFA is providing toast and fruit for students on arrival to school, and are requesting parent helpers. If you can assist between 8.30-9.00 to prepare toast, please see the office or email us at gakhal.diane.d@edumail.vic.gov.au.

Upcoming fundraisers include Family Portraits, where families can have professional photos taken. We will be aiming to organise a day in April for Family Portraits, in order for photos to be ready for Mother’s Day. Our second fundraiser for Term 2 is a School Disco, planned for Friday 24th April. This is a great night for all children, and one they enjoyed in previous years. Notices will be sent home regarding both of these events.

Fresh Fruit Fridays commenced last Friday 6th March, with the proud support of Woolworths Marriott Waters. Each class received a container of freshly cut fruit to share. We are seeking parent helpers to cut up fruit.

If you can help out every now and then, feel free to drop in to the staff room at 9.00 on a Friday morning. We would appreciate your assistance.

The Second Hand Uniform Stall will be running regularly, on the 1st Tuesday of every month. The next stall will be held on Tuesday 14th April from 8.30-9.00am and in the afternoon from 3.00-3.30 in the school gym. If anyone has any uniforms they would like to donate to the school, please hand them to the office. All clothes must be clean, without holes and able to be worn.

Quickbeds Accommodation & Booking Website

The PFA have signed up for a Fundraising Program known as Quickbeds. Quickbeds is an accommodation and booking website owned by the Flight Centre. If you, or any friends and family are looking for Australian and New Zealand accommodation, head to www.quickbeds.com. They have a price beat guarantee. If you decide to book through Quickbeds, use the Lyndhurst ID of 1346. Every booking made with this ID raises funds for the school.

School Banking with Bendigo Bank every Friday.

Bendigo Bank will collect bank books from the school every Friday. Students can bring in their banking each week, and books will be returned by the end of the day.

For further details, or to open an account with Bendigo Bank please contact 03 9799 0344, email marriottwatersmailbox@bendigoadelaide.com.au or visit the branch at Marriott Waters Shopping Centre to speak to any of the friendly staff.

Future Events

The PFA has many fundraising activities planned for the year. We have already raised $25,000 for a new playground, and our goal of $10,000 this year will raise the remaining funds needed for this important equipment. All children will benefit from our fundraising. We will be showing our progress towards our goal in each fortnightly newsletter, and would greatly appreciate your support in all of our fundraising efforts throughout the year.

The next PFA meeting will be held on Thursday 12th March 2015, and we would love to see new parents join us then.
