French Immersion Camp Scholarship Winner
Congratulations are extended to Ada Lausberg, who has been selected to receive a scholarship from the Department of Education to attend a French Immersion Camp at Portsea.
This will give her the opportunity to hone her speaking and listening language skills prior to completing her Year 12 French Examinations.
Bravo, Ada! Bon courage!
Hosting Opportunities
A host family is still needed for a student from our French sister school, Lycée Darchicourt. Gabrielle arrives in July and will be here for 6 months.
If you are not able to host for six months, but are interested in hosting for a shorter period of time, please contact Sharon Stoyanoff for further details.
Indonesian Sister School Program
The Languages Faculty at Lilydale High School is excited to announce that we have developed a sister school relationship with a Senior High School in Indonesia.
Between July 17 and July 30 2016, Lilydale High School will be hosting a group of seven Indonesian students and one teacher visiting from Celebes Global School in Makassar, Sulawesi.
They will participate in an Intercultural Learning and Language Development program at LHS. The group will participate in general classes with their host students and also contribute to the Indonesian program.
Expressions of interest are being sought from families who would be willing to host a student during their 2 week visit to Lilydale High School. This would involve providing meals and accommodation and perhaps, an activity for the student on the weekend.
The group will consist of girls and boys. If possible, we would like to match each student with a host of the same gender, although this is not essential.
Host parents and any person over the age of 18 years, and not attending school, who usually lives in the house, will require a Working with Children Permit. This is available free to volunteers and the forms can be found at:
http://www.workingwithchildren.vic.gov.au/
This is a great opportunity for your son or daughter to get to know a student from another country and to learn something about their culture. If you are willing to host a student, please contact Sharon Stoyanoff at the school on 97355644.
