Following the tremendous 2014 success of the student newspaper ‘True That!’, this year’s Craft of Writing class are proud to announce their first edition is now available through Compass. This student newspaper is entirely the work of students for students. Well done to all involved on this exciting initiative. Keep an eye out for future editions.

SCHOOL DEBATING TEAM

Calling all debaters and would be debaters

Our Lilydale High School debating teams have enjoyed fantastic success over the years,

competing in numerous inter school competitions and frequently emerging winners! Indeed, we are fortunate to have extremely articulate debaters who have been ably supported and coached by our dedicated staff.

Ms Higgins and Ms Redgewell are again thrilled to be working with our senior teams, whilst Ms Xynos and Ms Hunter will be supporting our younger participants. So if you enjoy a good argument you should consider joining the debating team. Not only does debating improve your ability to speak publicly, but also your capacity to mount a clear and coherent argument will improve exponentially! So keep an eye on Compass for more information.

EDUCATION WEEK

Writing Competition

The annual Lilydale High School Education Week writing competition is not far away! Students from Years 7-10 are asked to submit a short story (500 words) or poem (16 lines) on a topic of their choice. Winners selected from each year level as well as our ALP classes, are rewarded with a Literary Luncheon where their special guests and teachers are regaled by their writing talents. So, let the writing begin.

Entries close Friday 27 March (last day of Term 1).
