COMPASS SCHOOL PORTAL

As parents and guardians have the ability to approve absences on-line, it is important to keep usernames and passwords secure and confidential. Parents and students have separate log in details.

Any parents and guardians who have not received their username and password,  should contact the relevant Sub School Office.

SUCCESS @ YEAR 9

A big thanks to those parents and guardians who supported our ‘Success @ Year 9’ sessions that were held earlier this week.  The sessions are designed to inform and assist parents to support their child through the rigours of Year 9. Information was provided with time allocated to answer questions.

Thanks to the Year 9 Coordination team of Meaghan Harmes, Mark Beatson and Liz Rundell who did a great job in putting the sessions together. Thank you also to Jonathan Reedyk, Head of Middle School and Year 10.

SCHOOL PHOTO DAY

All students will have their photo taken on Friday 20 February and must be in full school uniform.

Photo catch-up day will be held on Monday 2 March.

Photos will be available to view on-line several days after Monday 2 March and can be purchased on-line through the Compass Portal (Community > Photos).

Ordering on-line will save $10 in processing fees.

2015 STUDENT CAPTAINS

One of the recommendations from the school review that took place in 2014 was an increase in student led activities and initiatives. With this in mind, I had the pleasure of a breakfast meeting with the senior student captains last Thursday February 12 to discuss ideas and aspirations for their important roles this year. They had many thoughts of how they would like to enhance the captaincy roles across the school and are very enthusiastic to begin work. They followed up with a lunch meeting this week of the other year level captains and I look forward to the implementation of some of the projects and initiatives they have agreed on.  Watch this space…….

PUNCTUALITY

It is important for all students to begin the day on time to ensure they don’t miss important information and learning. The school day begins at 8.30 am during which time students collect their books, gather their thoughts and prepare for the day.

A student who arrives late to school (after 8.40 am) must sign in at the relevant Sub School Office and provide a satisfactory written note of explanation.

A lunchtime detention will be given if such a note is not provided.

UNIFORM

Students are required to wear correct school uniform everyday, including travelling to and from school.  The support of parents/guardians in relation to uniform would be greatly appreciated in delivering a high standard of student appearance. We want uniform to be a non issue so that everyone can get on with learning. School uniform policy is determined by School Council and reviewed on a regular basis.

The school allows students to wear a stud or sleeper in the ear provided it does not infringe or breach School and Department of Education, Health and Safety Guidelines. NO FACIAL JEWELLERY is PERMITTED to be worn by students during the school day.

All school uniform requirements can be purchased from Lowes, Lilydale Market Place, Shopping Centre.
