THANK YOU FOR AN AMAZING YEAR! 

Dear Friends,

Thank you to all staff, students and parents for an amazing year!  It’s hard to believe that we are at the end of another year and that 2020 is just around the corner.

Are you prepared for Christmas?

In the busyness of the month, most people are probably not prepared in the way of decorations, shopping, wrapping presents, preparing menus, organising holiday arrangements/packing, etc.

But, I wonder if we are prepared spiritually and have the right attitude in the build up to Christmas?

My church pastor gave a wonderful message this week on the important attitudes (displayed by Joseph) we need in preparing for Christmas (Matthew 1:18-25).

1. Accept God’s Way

In the Christmas story we don’t hear much about Joseph, but he played an integral part and teaches us all how to live through simple faith, obedience and trust. Imagine being in his position.  He was pledged to be married to Mary, but as far as he knew Mary had been unfaithful to him and broke a strong bond that existed between them.

According to law, Mary should have been stoned to death, but Joseph didn’t want that so he quietly planned to divorce her.

Matthew 1:20-21 then explains what happened next:

But after he considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save people from their sins.”

Joseph teaches us to accept God’s way – whatever that may be.  Joseph didn’t know all the details but he was a man of genuine faith, who trusted God, was obedient and faithful in fulfilling God’s plan in God’s way.

Christmas happened in the way it did, because Joseph trusted God!

2. Look Out For Others

Joseph didn’t have a starring role in the nativity, but his role was very important. He had been assigned to take care of Mary and baby Jesus.

3. A Time to Give

Christmas happened, because Joseph put his own concerns aside and was prepared to give. He didn’t know that after Jesus was born he would have to flee and take Jesus and the family to Egypt, away from his home and support. God had a plan and Joseph followed it faithfully.

As we come into the Christmas season, may we come close to God and accept His way in our lives. 

May we all care for each other and give of ourselves because God himself gave us Jesus.

May we all know the true meaning of Christmas each day as we live in Him.
