From the Principal Team

The end of Term 2 is drawing closer and it has been a very busy time around our school. Our VCE students have just finished their GAT exam, the Semester 2 timetable has commenced, and teachers are finalising mid-year reports. Friday 29th June is the last day of Term 2 and we finish at 2.20pm.

DEBUTANTE BALL

Congratulations to all our students who took part in the 2018 Shepparton High School and McGuire Debutante Ball last Friday night at Eastbank.  A fantastic night was had by all. Thank you to Robbie Muston (Shepparton High School) and Paige Martin and Jameson Miller (McGuire College) for your leadership of, and dedication to, the organization and running of the event.

REPORTING

At the end of Term 2 all year 7-10 students will receive a summary page, and a one-page per subject summary, that maps the student’s learning against the curriculum achievement standards, and places the student on the learning continuum, that best reflect the student’s level of performance and progress.

All year 11/12 students will receive a one-page per subject summary that outlines the student’s achievement and effort towards their learning. These reports will be uploaded to our learning portal, Xuno, by the last day of Term for you to download at your convenience.

STAFF CHANGES FOR TERM 3

We would like to farewell English/VCAL teacher Melissa Terry who is moving on to Ballarat. We wish you all the best in your future teaching position. We welcome Felicity Cummins who will be joining us next Term in the English and VCAL departments.

We would also like to inform our school community that Mr Phil Squire will be taking long service leave for Term 3 and he has also announced this week that he will be retiring from his Principalship at the beginning of Term 4  2018, after nearly 11 years as Principal at Shepparton High School.

Phil has made this decision to retire from the Department of Education due to personal health reasons associated with a long term medical condition. We wish him well as he ventures off, with his family, on a trip throughout Northern Australia.

As a result, the following changes will occur to the leadership team for Term 3:

  • Acting Principal - Christine Cole
  • Assistant Principal (Senior School) – Amy Gallacher
  • Senior School Leader – Hadleigh Sirett

The Regional Office of the Department of Education will work with the school council,  shortly, to put in place a process to appoint a new Principal for the longer term.

LATE TO SCHOOL

Students should be at school by 8:50am so that they can be organised in time for periods 1 and 2.  Students arriving after 9:00am must report to the General Office for a Late Pass. If a student has to leave the school grounds during the day then a note requesting permission is required, and students must sign-out at the General Office and sign back in if returning on the day.
