CAREERS

Careers Appointments

The Careers Coordinators are available to assist students to make informed decisions about career choices and choices for study.

Throughout the year students are seen individually or in groups regarding career information, subject choices and study skills. Students from Years 9 to 12 will be required to attend a compulsory interview throughout the year to discuss their future pathway, however, our doors are always open for students across the school who wish to speak to us.

All students from Years 9 to 12 have been asked to reflect on their personal and work related skills, reflect on goals that they had last year and make educational and work related goals for the rest of this year, in a Career Action Plan.

Career Action Plans help young people to develop their awareness and understanding of education, training and employment options, and to develop the skills, knowledge and capabilities to effectively manage their careers and transitions throughout their lives.

The development of a Career Action Plan is designed to assist young people to set their goals, to clarify the actions needed to achieve these goals, and to commit to participating in planned activities.

Parents are welcome to log on to Compass and access their child’s Career Action Plan. This can be found under the Insights tab. Parents are encouraged to comment on their young person’s Career Action Plan.

So far this year, all Year 12 students have had their initial careers appointment for the year.  Many of which have already booked in for secondary appointments to discuss their future pathways.

Currently, all Year 11 students are having an individual careers appointment focusing on their pathways after secondary school and their subject selection for 2019.

Year 10 students will shortly attend a Year 10 Career Pathway Day on July 26 at the Lilydale Lutheran Church. Students will have an careers interview to discuss schooling options, subject selection and post-secondary school pathways.

Students in Year 9 have participated in a Career Action Day in Term 2, where they participated in a Resume writing workshop, Career planning workshops, Myers-Briggs Careers Assessment, Mock Job Interview and completed their Career Action Plan.

If you would like some advice on career pathways or training options please book an appointment with the Careers Office on 9735 5644.
