VCE OUTDOOR EDUCATION

Phillip Island Trip

On Thursday 24 and Friday 25 May, the VCE Outdoor and Environmental Studiesstudents visited Phillip Island. The trip was an opportunity for the students to visit and explore the area they have been learning about in class.

On the way to Phillip Island, the students visited the Wonthaggi Desalination Plant where they learnt about the process of desalination and the major political issues around water management in the early 2000’s.

The students then visited the Penguin Parade where they learnt about the historical significance of the area and the ongoing conservation work by Phillip Island Nature Parks.

We finished the day, watching the penguins enter the beach.  For some students, it was their first time attending the Penguin Parade, with the penguins waddling up the beach being a highlight for many.

Fortunately the weather held off for the next morning and the students were able to walk the picturesque Cape Woolamai track.

I would like to thank Kendall Seath, for her support during the camp and the students for a successful trip.
