DAV Report
Round three of DAV competition was held on the 2/6/17 at Brighton Grammar, and was a very successful night for the St Bede’s College Debating Squad, winning five debates from seven. B Grade were intent on arguing that Australia should increase its spending on foreign aid, whilst D grade grappled with the issue of whether or not to allow increased development on Antarctica.
Results:
B Grade:Jeremy Mann, Dillon Bulman and Edward McGarry, defeated Star of The Sea by five points. Joint Best Speakers awarded to Dillon Bulman and Jeremy Mann.
D Grade:
SBC 1: Tom Burn, Damon Kelly and Jacob Legge, defeated Star of The Sea by three points; Best Speaker awarded to Jacob Legge.
SBC 2: Elijah Barrett, Flynn Morley and Tom Griffin, defeated Wesley College, Elsternwick, by one point. Best Speaker awarded to Elijah Barrett.
SBC 3: John Cassar, Will Devlin , Jacob Barry and Jack Pooley, defeated by Kostka Hall 2.
SBC 4: Sam Gough, Ronan Larkin, Sebastian Mooney, defeated St Leonard’s College 5 , by one point. Joint Best Speakers, Sam Gough and Sebastian Mooney.
SBC 5: Sam Murray, Jack Dawson and Blake Wilden, defeated by Albert Park Secondary College, by one point.
SBC 6: Tomas Cooling, Lachlan Doyle and Ben Martinelli, defeated Sandringham Secondary College 1, by two points. Best Speaker awarded to Lachlan Doyle.
At this stage of the season, many of our D Grade teams a well placed for continued success as the race for a place in finals heats up. Two excellent debates from our B Grade team sees them also competitively placed with two rounds to go.

Round 4 takes place on Wednesday, 21 June, at Brighton Grammar, all supporters welcome.
