Year 9

Year 9 Report

The five consecutive Year 9 Lake Eildon Survival camps are now finished, with all boys returning to school with a genuine sense of accomplishment. The water level had receded a little further this year, however, the landscape at Eildon was still as green and as picturesque as ever. The boys demonstrated a positive attitude and continued to smile and laugh through the many and varied trials and tribulations that one experiences in the Australian bush. The boys set up tents, hiked, kayaked, fished and cooked. Teamwork was imperative and encouraged, and it was fascinating for us as teachers to watch this play out. For the very active, the hike was challenging. For the less active the hike was a serious mental and physical challenge. Congratulations to all boys for showing such courage and teamwork on the recent camps, dealing with extremes of weather and mood to make the camp such a success. Thanks to Mr. Darren Strom, Mr. Nick Anderson, and the many teachers for running the camps.

As we approach the end of Year 9, we would like to remind you about two significant events on the school calendar. The Year 9 examination period will commence on Monday 19 November and continue through Week 7 until Thursday 21 November. The students will have examinations for their core subjects during this period. When not in examinations, the students will attend classes. Immediately after the examination period at the beginning of Week 8, the boys will move into the Flying Start Transition Program, where they will begin work in their Year 10 classes. This transition program will run for two weeks.
