Prayer for the Week

Holy Week Celebrations

A reminder that our Holy Week celebration will take place tomorrow from 11:30am. Our Year 5/6 students will act out the significant events of Holy Week and each class will visit the scenes. Families are welcome to join us however we ask that a prayerful silence is observed during the liturgy. If you wish to follow the Holy Week story with your child’s class the approximate commencement times are:

11:30:                        Year Prep N

11:35:                        Year Prep V

11:40:                        Year 1/2C

11:45:                        Year 1/2H

11:50:                        Year 3/4C

11:55:                        Year 3/4L

12:00:                        Year 3/4Z

The first scene, Palm Sunday, will take place near the statue in the Ormond Road playground.

Social Justice News: Project Compassion

Throughout the course of the term, our school community has been participating in donating money for Caritas Australia’s Project Compassion. We have raised this money through the Big Brekky and the Project Compassion boxes that were placed on the prayer tables of each classroom. We thank everyone for your kind donations and together we have raised $600.

Some examples of what Caritas Australia could put our money towards:

$15 can support a young person to go back to high school to finish their studies in the Philippines

$65 can provide a social activity to practise sign language for a deaf person in Cambodia

$95 is enough for a  bushwalk to collect raw materials to make art products generating an income for First Australians

$165 can provide a young woman with funds to buy a sewing machine to start a business and have an income in Nepal

$350 can provide tutoring for a whole year for one refugee who has missed school due to conflict in Syria

Next term we'll introduce a new set of donation boxes, for the Mary MacKillop Foundation. The money raised for this foundation could fund many programs for the less fortunate, or could support a young adult needing a scholarship so that they can attend  a university.

Thank you for your continued support.
