Gavin Wins 2019 Cross Country Carnival
Last Friday 5 May we hosted the Annual Mazenod College House Cross Country Carnival. Once again, we were blessed with perfect conditions for the gruelling 5km run around the streets of Lesmurdie.
Congratulations to Gavin for winning the House Competition, with excellent participation and results across all year groups. Well done also to the champion and runner up for each year group (below). Thank you to all the Mazenod staff for their assistance with the running of the carnival.

A Strong Start!
Round One of the School Sports WA (SSWA) Cable Division (A Division) football season is always a great time to be at Mazenod College. The weather is perfect and there is a real sense of anticipation after the boys have participated in a busy preseason in Term One. We were also fortunate to host our first game on home turf, against Governor Stirling Senior High School.
In a fast-paced first half, Mazenod dominated the ruck through some great work by Ryan Letessier, who provided the midfield of Giacomo Paduano, Ashley Brockbernd, Dylan Brockbernd, Noah Hannan and Joe Edmonds great opportunity to dominate the contested ball battle.
Liam Bradford showed great determination and skill inside 50, finishing with three goals on the day. He was well supported by Noah Henderson, Blake Boys and Regan Hill.
The defence, led by Ben Dupont, Vlas Kailis and Mitchell Massam, continually repelled the Governor Stirling attack, and set up the run and carry through the midfield.
The whole team played hard and fair footy, and should all be proud of their performance!
MAZENOD 6.9(45) defeated Governor Stirling 4.3(27)
Giacomo Paduano, Noah Hannan, Liam Bradford, Ben Dupont, Mitchell Massam
Bradford 3, Hill 1, Boys 1, Henderson 1
A huge thank you to Mr Akmens and Year 12 student Lleyton Jose who stepped in at the last minute to umpire the game. Thanks also to all the students who helped out, and the staff, family and friends of the players who come along to support the team!
Our next game is next Wednesday 15 May at Sacred Heart College.

On Monday 6 May and Wednesday 8 May the Year 7 and 8 students were involved in the annual ACC Winter Lightning Carnivals. The aim of the days are to get students involved in healthy fun competition against our fellow ACC schools. Students participated in either Soccer, AFL or Ultimate Frisbee.
The students represented the College extremely well over the two days and seemed to have a lot of fun!
I would like to congratulate the students on how they carried themselves and also thank the staff who attended to supervise the carnivals as well as the Year 12 students who took time to help coach students in their chosen sports.
