Springers Expectations – School Matrix

M28 have been reviewing the three R’s in the classroom and talking through each expectation. During our lessons, the students have been very creative.  They all re-created new lyrics to the song “Hurt Somebody” by Julia Michaels, Noah Kahan.  We have also designed posters for the 3’Rs and what the expectations are around the toilet areas.  The students have also made booklets on how we play around the garden and play areas correctly.

M28 Gardening club

The students have been very keen this year to start weeding some garden beds and get them prepared for planting.

The students have been weeding once a fortnight on Fridays.  They have taken on this new task with such enthusiasm that we are now almost ready to start planting seedlings.

In week 9 we will be spreading some new soil down and mulching the top.  We will let the soil rest over the holidays and start planting the first week back term 4.

Learning time

This term our inquiry topic has been focusing on the first fleet.  M28 have embraced this topic and integrated all our reading and writing around it.  This term the students have learned about the life of a convict.  Each student designed their own information report about a convict.  Some students created posters, others made booklets and some students even put together PowerPoint presentations.

During reading sessions, we have been reading about the life of convicts and different explorers.  We are using our Reciprocal reading skills to promote and encourage students to answer questions from the text by clarifying, predicting, summarising, and questioning.
