Planter Boxes
The Year Eleven Intermediate students recently installed their wicked planter boxes at St Thomas the Apostle primary school these up cycled self-watering planter boxes with their own reservoir, will be ready for the growing seasons and we look forward to seeing them in producing a variety of Veggies.
VCAL Café
Preparations are underway for the VCAL café, which will be in full operation in the coming weeks. The senior WRS students will run this business as part of their Work Related Skills Unit. We look forward to seeing the new bespoke coffee cart, which has been designed and constructed by the VCAL students. As well as operating at lunchtimes, this will be a valuable addition to the winter sleep out on the 24th August.
Mountain Biking
This year, the VCAL program at East has been fortunate enough to acquire a set of TREK mountain bikes. As part of the Certificate II in Outdoor Recreation, all the Year 11 students will take part in the mountain bike program over the next 4 weeks. Students will learn bike maintenance, riding skills and riding safely. The course culminates with a trip to Lysterfield Park, where students will be able to ride on the different graded bike trails within the park and take part in bush walking activities.
The Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL) is a certificate focussing on ‘hands on’ learning available to Year 11 and 12 students. In 2019, the PreCAL program is open for application for Year 10 students at the East Campus.
