2018 Social Justice Camp
The Archdiocese of Sale held its annual Social Justice Camp at Rawson, from August 1-3. This year, ten Year Ten and ten Year Eleven students attended the camp. The camp was titled 'Ripples' and with this idea in mind, students were educated about how they could create Social Justice Ripples in our society as leaders in our student communities. Students, over the three days, learned about their role as leaders in our College and how they can help to develop Social Awareness in our College. The seeds were sown for students to help out with awareness programs when they returned to school.
The camp also gave students the opportunity to work with over seventy students from other Colleges. It was great to see our students working with other students in presentations after workshops and then reporting back to the whole group with their findings. Above all, it was great to see students giving and enjoying themselves.
Student comments on their experience:
"Overall the camp was a great experience, for those who seek a leadership role, at school or as a potential career. "
"A great learning experience."
"Great to meet fellow students who had such strong opinions on Social Justice."
"Grateful to the College for giving me the experience."
"Looking forward to what we can do on our return to school."
"Great opportunity to meet and listen to students from other schools."
"A great experience, that opens up your perspective."
"Thanks to the College for sending us."
In closing, thanks to Miss Rita Mouchacha, Mr. Paul Gyluvary, and Mr, Roger Hampson who supervised the students.
