Yr 7 and 11 Camp Continued
On the second afternoon of our camp, we travelled to South Sandon Beach, near Bulli to meet the team from Australian Surf Tours. Having helped us struggle into wet suits, the team gave us instruction and tips on how to paddle a surfboard, plank and stand to ride a wave. A swim in the ocean followed, which was a first time for some of our students, who commented on the funny taste of the water! Most importantly, they were able to feel the strength of the waves, so they could anticipate the impact when on their boards.
Everyone had a number of chances to ride a wave. It was challenging, but the determination of the students to keep trying was immense. Lots of encouragement from their peers waiting on the beach helped everyone to have a go. Some students stood up, lots of students fell off, but all students had a great time and would have liked longer, if they hadn’t started to feel the cold.
The evening was rounded off with a great dinner at the Warilla Bowling Club. The students were impressed by the surroundings and everyone had plenty to eat. Mr Corcoran’s lamb kebab was truly impressive.
Our final day started with a walk along Windang Beach, where we saw endangered Tiny Plovers. Then on the bus and into Shellharbour before heading to Jamberoo Action Park, where we were one of only four schools in the park. This meant no queues and lots of opportunities to enjoy the rides. A few hours of water slides was a great way to end the three days of fun where our students learnt how to be great peer supporters, to encourage each other and embrace all their differences.

Yr 9/10 History
9/10 History students are learning how to analyse historical primary and secondary sources. Using World War 1 posters, students learnt about the power of propoganda and the techniques used to encourage men to enlist.

STEM Mars Project
This term Stage 5 Stem have been designing rovers to navigate around “Mars”. They have had to plan, program and test their rover for when it lands on the surface of the “planet”. Like a real mars mission they have no access to the course and had to make measurement and predictions from afar.

What's cooking?
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you!
The Food Technology, Hospitality and Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden teachers are grateful for the donations that they have received during the term to enhance students learning. Over the past weeks donations of apples, eggs, zucchinis and tomotoes have been donated by members of the school community. Together with a donation of food magazines, the students have been able to learn new food preparation skills and sample foods that they may not have tried before.
We are always grateful for this support.
Return and Earn
Secondary students can assist the TAS Faculty to purchase equipment for the kitchen by placing recyclable drink containers in the yellow bins in their playground.
So far we have raised over $100 which helped to buy ingredients and pay for cooking entries in the Boorowa Show.

Music Matters
The Year 7/8 music class have been busy this year. Within six weeks they have worked through songs by Santana, Amy Shark, Matchbox 20 and Vance Joy - beginning their learning through use of rhythm, pitch, tempo and duration. Students have also begun playing guitars and ukuleles - as well as singing. We are progressing well. Pictured are students working through their first lesson of Vance Joy's 'Riptide'.
A reminder that there are spots open to year 7-12 students for singing and 'guitarchestra' after-school clubs on Thursdays . Please see Mr Stuart for more details.
