Dear Families and Friends
The final days for the class of 2019 culminated in a graduation evening which incorporated all things Presentation. Celebrated by Fr Joe Caddy, the readings of our deeply spiritual mass, gave some key pieces of advice for our young women as they prepared to go beyond the gates. At the graduation evening we also presented awards for excellence in unit 3/4 studies and some other significant achievement awards listed below. The Class of 2019 have been unique and will leave an indelible mark on the College. As a year level, they are intelligent, sensitive, friendly, welcoming and supportive of each other and were committed to making their final year at PCW memorable. The Student Leadership Team were bright, vivacious and inspirational, and I was moved by the genuine enthusiasm they have for life and the interest they take in the world around them.
In my speech to the girls, I quoted Pope Francis…” And so it is with your life, dear young friends: if we want it to have real meaning and fulfilment, as you want, and as you deserve, I say to each one of you…..put on faith…and your life will take on a new flavour, it will have a compass to show you the way….put on hope…..and every one of your days will be enlightened and your horizon will no longer be dark, but luminous…put on love….and your life will be like a house built on a rock, your journey will be joyful, because you will find many friends to journey with you…put on faith, put on hope, put on love.
These students, and all the girls who have been part of our school are Presentation women, shaped by their experiences here and all those who have been part of their journey. Our girls and their families will always be a part of our Presentation family.
We were also saddened by the news of the tragic passing of one of our students, Caitlin Brunton in Year 8. Caitlin was a beautiful, caring young girl, with the voice of an angel who touched the hearts and lives of all of us here at PCW. We will keep her in our hearts and we treasure the memories we have of her. We keep Alison, her mother and her siblings, Alistair and Madeleine in our thoughts and prayers.
Warm regards
