Stage 3

Year 6 students already had Google Classrooms set up for their own classrooms.

This has helped many students understand how to access a new classroom, complete assignments,          answer questions and classroom etiquette. Our Year 5 students required a lot more support in all areas but are becoming familiar with the new routine.

We have been quickly upskilling ourselves with troubleshooting. Particularly how processes differ for students completing work on iPads and turning off spam notifications for when other teachers make comments, mark work or submit new assignments. There are some examples below of the types of feedback we are able to give to students.

Most of Stage 3 work is in an online format, where students are assigned their own copy through Google Docs and turn it in. We utilise Studyladder, Soundwaves, Inquisitive, Maths Pathway, Prodigy, Go Noodle, Fitness with Joe, the 100WC and our ePlatform library. We have also provided physical and art activities to allow kids time away from the screen.

We have contacted most of our student’s with a phone call home to see how they are going and communicate directly with our students, through a question thread and email.

Some areas we will be discussing and developing further will be: 

  • workload too much or too little? 
  • Zoom - how do we want to utilise this
  • Spelling tests online - Spelling city
