Rohan Fitzgerald, CEO of WDHS  presented John  with a certificate and $100 (WDHS sponsored) will arrive in the mail for him later.

Congratulations John, it's great to see you being heard.

Macqlit Program

MacqLit is a literacy program that helps students improve their skills in reading and writing. It is run by Miss Eales, Mrs Gray, and Mrs Kavanagh with the help of Mrs Longbottom, and volunteers Mr Bob Cadden and Mrs Gill Lewis. It has helped me to decode tricky words, and has made me enjoy reading more. My favourite part of MacqLit is the timed reading, because it is fun and I get to see how much I’ve improved.

Jade McCreddan.

Congratulations to Haydon, Chloe and Jade who have recently completed the MacqLit program.
Congratulations to Haydon, Chloe and Jade who have recently completed the MacqLit program.

My improvements, with the help of MacqLit, are that I am able to read fluently, clearly and out loud with confidence. My favourite part of MacqLit would be seeing other students have fun and improve with the help of the teachers. I would like to say thank you to all the teachers and volunteers for giving their time to help all of us to improve.

Sport Ed 9/10 2018

As part of an assessment for Sport Education for Year 9/10 with Mr Hill and Mr Frost, students were provided with the opportunity to test their newly learned teaching and coaching skills with Hamilton North Primary School students in Grade 3/4.

Students participated in a choice of three different sports and Baimbridge students took them through warm ups, skills and games associated with these.

Both our students and the primaries loved it and we hope it will become a permanent part of this subject for the future.

Remembrance Day

Students from Baimbridge proudly and willingly represented the College on Sunday, November 11th at the Hamilton service at Melville Oval.

Emma McCallum spoke brilliantly as the community youth representative about what his day means to her.

Students laid a wreath on behalf of the college.

Many school students in attendance with their families to also pay their personal respects on the 100th anniversary of the end of WW1.

Miss Morgan, Ms Adams and Mr Hill  represented the staff.

The Year 7's and Mr Constantine did a great job laying the plastic poppies in the words of LEST WE FORGET.

The RSL were incredibly grateful to our College again for the badge selling and this Poppy initiative.

Well done students and staff.

Can you please help??

Our canteen is in desperate need of volunteers.  With only 7 names on the roster in 2019 (thank you  thank you thank you for your contribution to our school ladies) we are calling for volunteers.

We do not care how long you can give.  One hour will be better than nothing.

Our canteen has already lost one trading day and the students miss that dearly.  Without volunteers we could lose another.

If you are able to assist please complete the form below and return it to school.  We appreciate anything we receive from our volunteers.

What is this RP Room I'm hearing about?

Some parents may receive a Compass Chronicle notification email to alert you to your child having been sent to the RP Room.  RP stands for Restorative Practise, which will now replace Time Out.

The two are similar, in providing the platform for relief from situations that cause distress for students, classes and staff alike.

The RP room is manned by Mrs Bernadette Cook and is located next to the YLC room which enables students to have a direct line to their YLC when available and foster relationships there.

At Baimbridge, the assumption is always made that students want to learn and that teachers want to teach, teachers are to follow procedures that offer opportunities to restore relationships within the classroom prior to sending students to the RP room.  If this process fails or is not possible due to classroom constraints (eg class is in the middle of assessment or practical lesson) the student will then be sent to the RP room to complete a sheet to record and reflect the way they feel and what they can do to restore the relationship.

The student may then be sent to an alternative class room if work has been provided by the classroom teacher or remain in the RP room depending on their level of distress.  A restorative meeting with the student and teacher must be held prior to the student returning to the class room.

If  a student is referred to RP more than three times per term, a formal discussion will be conducted between the student, teacher and Year Level Coordinator with hopes of the restoration of relationships.

Time Out historically provided the same service, RP adds another layer in which both the student and the staff member have a structure that brings forth the conversation and restoration of one of the most valuable resources in the classroom, the relationship between the teacher and the student.

Duck Derby for a Baimbridge Family

The Hamilton Police are holding a Duck Derby on Saturday the 1st of December at the lake to raise money for the Phillips Family.  If you are not familiar with the nuts and bolts of what a duck derby is, people 'purchase' a rubber duck for $20 (when they say purchase they mean you are purchasing the number of the duck, you do not receive an actual rubber duck - it's like a Melbourne Cup Sweep if that makes more sense) and your duck is dumped into the lake along with all of the other purchased ducks where it has to navigate it's way through a specially designed course built from floating plastic pipe powered by wind and currents.  The first duck across the line wins the major prize of a $2000 Harvey Norman voucher and there are several other prizes donated by local business.

We have sold our tickets, please head to Glenn Howell Optometrist in Gray Street to purchase one.

There is also a Go Fund Me campaign if you wish to assist the family in another way:
