Cross Country

The Baimbridge College Cross Country was held on Friday 3rd May at Lake Hamilton. Overcast conditions with very little wind meant that conditions were well suited to long distance running. We were also fortunate with the rain as it held off until the last competitor had crossed the finish line, and everyone had packed up and started for home.

The format of the race was a little different to past years, with all competitors running at the same time. The senior boys (age 15-20) completed a full lap (4.1km) of the lake and the junior boys (age 12-14) and all girls ran 3.0km. This is more in line with the distances that these age groups will run at the next level (Glenelg District).

First boy home to the boat shed car park was Michael Marsden (14 age group), from the 3.0km group. The first girl was Ella Sevior (13 age group). Brendon Patterson was the first senior boy and managed to chase down most of the pack from the back mark of 4.1km. His time of 14mins & 20secs meant that his average speed for the race was an incredible 17.16km/h!

Senior Boys Football

The boys did themselves proud at Pedrina Park in the Div 1 senior boys football winning 1  of their 3 games.

Best player for the carnival was Regan McKenzie. Leading goal kicker was Dylan Turner and other great players were Adam Flavel, Oscar Reynolds and Kieran Barker.

An opening loss to a strong Monivae side was followed by a great win versus Hamilton College. We ended up going down to carnival winners Portland by a goal in the last game of the day. The umpires all commented on how well Baimbridge played as a team and improvements occurred each game. Thanks to Ethan Turner and Angus Bosch for goal umpiring and running, and also to Ian ‘Brock’ Johnson for helping out with the First Aid.

The boys looked the goods in the schools new green footy shorts and Baimbridge socks. A good turn up of parents and friends also made the team feel very supported. Well done Baimbridge.

Mr Hill the coach commented on how proud he was to coach the boys and now we look forward to the Year9/10 efforts and the other year levels and gender making their ‘mark’.
