Term 2

Wow! What a busy term the Year 5 students have had. In weeks 2 and 3 the Year 5 students went to Splash Aqua Park in Craigieburn and had a fantastic time learning new swimming, lifesaving and water survival skills. On the last day of the program, students and teachers had a very fun day on the water slides and aqua playground.

Back in the classroom, Year 5’s have been learning about the properties of 2 dimensional and 3 dimensional shapes in Maths. They have expanded their knowledge of quadrilaterals and worked in teams to classify them into a range of categories including parallel lines, angles and lines of symmetry.  Students used their problem solving and mathematical reasoning skills to explain why they chose each category. It was also time to get creative in curiosity. Students researched, designed and created a chicken coop as part of their STEM investigation. The finished product of all chicken coops were amazing, complete with sleeping perches, brooding boxes and plenty of free range space for their chickens to roam.
