Principal's Report

Ms Virgato with Year 7 2020 students on their first day.

Dear Families and Friends

It is my pleasure to welcome everyone to 2020 where our College theme in this, our final year, is to “Flourish as Presentation”.   This year's leadership team consists of: Brenden Mair (Deputy Principal), Rosemary Scarlett (Business Manager), Josie Dilettoso (Director of Faith and Mission), Rory Godbold and Hayley Fraser (Directors of Students), Simon Gitson (Director of Pedagogy and Innovation).  Over two days in mid-January, the newly formed Leadership team and I met to consolidate our planning for our final year as Presentation College Windsor and for Leadership Formation.  As a new team, it was of great benefit to spend time together, clearly articulating how our theme for the year enables us to be clear and faithful to the Vision and Mission of the College; and our commitment to providing our staff and students with the most positive learning environment.  Mrs Margaret McKenna, a highly experienced and respected past principal, who worked in a coaching and mentoring capacity for the Leadership Team last year, will continue to do so this year.  Margaret facilitated our Formation Day and the team worked very diligently on the organisational aspects to ensure a smooth start to the year and Semester 1.  I would like to thank the team for their collaborative spirit, generosity of ideas, enthusiasm and support during these days.

What a positive start to the year we have had!  After the heat of the first day back on Friday, we have experienced a cooler and very productive first week.  Whilst a smaller community this year, our girls returned enveloped in an air of excitement as they reconnected after the holidays.  At our whole school assembly on Friday, our College Captain, Bridie Wilcox, and Vice-Captain, Juliana Nield, spoke about the importance of community and “looking after your mates”.  Our theme of “Flourish as Presentation” reinforced the fact that we are wanting our students to thrive and grow through a holistic education.

During the school holidays, work continued on the Nagle building and the completion date is in sight for the very near future.  The classrooms are contemporary, with the open and multi-purpose learning spaces designed to inspire creativity and engagement.  Something to look forward to indeed!

Rehearsals for our final Music Festival are underway, the front lawn has been ablaze with dancers and singers and it promises to be a spectacular evening with special performances.  With all the other whole school and special events scheduled for Term 1, it will indeed be a busy term.

I look forward to 2020 being a year where we all “Flourish as Presentation”.

Warm regards

Filina Virgato
