Annual Review

Annual Review of School Goals

Each year schools are guided by their Annual Implementation Plan (AIP). This plan reflects the goals of the school for one year of an overarching four year Strategic Plan. 2018 was the first year of our new Strategic Plan. Over the past month staff have been reflecting on our successes and collaboratively forming the next steps in each of our endeavours.

Some of the highlights from our year have included:

  • Strengthening of student engagement via:
    • learning through Play in the Junior School,
    • enhanced use of digital technologies and Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) in the classroom,
    • enhanced Sensory Motor Program in Physical Education,
    • greater connection to classroom learning in Performing Arts, Visual Arts and Mandarin,
    • consolidating the use of Circle Solutions and Discussion Circles to provide more voice and empowerment to students.
  • Remodelling the school’s approach to behaviour management with a focus on supporting students who make inappropriate choices, as opposed to punitive punishments.
  • The establishment of a whole school approach to Writing.
  • Improved student outcomes in English - Speaking and Listening, represented by greater breadth in cohort student achievement data.
  • Increased integration of STEM in our classroom Units of Inquiry.
  • Enriching the Transition Program to provide students transitioning from K – P, 6 – 7 and through the year levels a supportive pathway to ‘Step-Up’.
  • Remodelling and resourcing the leadership team to strengthen the distributive leadership structure of the school.
  • Enhancing Professional Learning to provide staff with ongoing capacity building via a Collegiate Coaching Program.
  • A greater focus on differentiation and ‘Point of Need Teaching’ through improved use of student assessment data and purposeful teaching (not teaching a student something they already know).

As we enter the 2019 school year the Strategic Plan Team will celebrate these successes in our Annual Report and formulate our 2019 AIP. These will be shared with the school community early in 2019.
