Sea Eagle Visit

Joel Thompson from the Manly Sea Eagles came to Armidale Secondary College recently to present 'The Mindset Project",  focusing on positive mindset strategies, goal setting and metal health and well-being, it was very well received by students and staff alike. Interspersed with Joel's own story of growing up in remote Ivanhoe, getting into trouble and ultimately turning his life around through perseverance, hard work and the support of his Grandmother.

Friday Night Rugby

Armidale Junior Rugby u/18s, comprised of students from Armidale Secondary College, O’Connor Catholic College, Uralla Central School, and Duval College, has gained its first victory in the Regional Friday Night Rugby Competition. Playing in their second season in the competition with the likes of Calrossy, Farrer , Tamworth Magpies, Tamworth Pirates and Quirindi, the team had been getting closer to gaining their first win with narrow recent loses to Farrer Gold and Quirindi. On a cold but clear evening last Friday night at Magpies Ground in Tamworth the Armidale lads played their best ever game of football defeating Farrer Rusts 50-0. Armidale where disciplined and clinical in attack and made Farrer pay for every mistake they made. Coaches Damian Roff ( OCC) and Jason Walker (ASC) were both delighted with their first victory as coaches with this team.and even TAS who only beat us by

Rugby

Our U13 Boys Rugby 7s are NW Rugby Champions! Well done boys!!!

They have booked themselves a place in the state finals in Sydney late October. The boys, coached on the day by year 12 student and Armidale u/18s Rugby captain, Bradman Walker, and were also undefeated against Farrer in the Final 30 - 0. The boys had to beat O'Connor Catholic College, Scone Grammar, Calrossy, McCarthy Catholic College and Inverell High School to qualify for the final. The boys played their hearts out  and upset the much fancied Farrer team.

We believe that this is the first time that a state high school from Armidale has qualified for the state finals in a form of Rugby Union.

A massive thank you and well done to the coaching staff that have made rugby happen at ASC - Ben Lawry, Bruce Dennison, Jason Walker and Vicki Kelly who were present today with the ASC students and support the students in the sport
