Professional Learning

Each staff member at Armidale Secondary College, teaching and non-teaching, has a Performance and Development Plan, which outlines their professional goals for each year, how those goals will be achieved and what evidence will be used to demonstrate that this learning has occurred. This process ensures that professional learning is targeted to achieving the goals in the school plan, whilst also upskilling staff in a variety of areas. This year 122 Professional Learning applications have been endorsed by the Professional Learning Team. Armidale Secondary College has a strong culture of professional learning. Every Monday during early release time, teaching staff engage in one hour of professional learning events. On Tuesday afternoons there is support for beginning teachers, as well as Tammy Cameron’s project Feedback for Learning and the Teaching English Language Learnings course run by Sarah Mills. On Thursday afternoon the school executive engages in professional learning. In addition to this, faculties are expected to organise time to plan and review their programs and plan for new curricula. In August, both the TAS and English faculties will be engaging in faculty-specific learning. School administrative staff have been participating in regular sessions of professional learning as part of the Excellence in Schools Administration framework.

Year 6 into 7 Parent Information Evening

All future students and their families are invited to attend the Year 6 into 7 Parent Information Evening at Armidale Secondary College. Come and chat to staff and students, visit our classrooms and learn about our Year 7 curriculum structure and wellbeing programs.
