School Council

School Council Update - September
Hi everyone, we had our September school council meeting on Monday night, which was a great opportunity to digest the feedback from the family forum session run in late August.
Despite the cold and rainy weather, it was fantastic to have over thirty parents in attendance at the forum. We split into two groups and rotated around four classrooms, which each had a school council facilitator and note taker. The themes covered in each of the classrooms were academic, resources, wellbeing and engagement, and we captured input on what we are doing well, what can be done better, and how to achieve this. Generally feedback was positive and constructive, and it was great to hear examples from other places that could help make our school even better. Some key themes were:
- Academic Achievement and engagement in learning: Great range of programs and inquiry focus, can improve communications and follow-up
- Resources - Facilities (grounds), equipment, etc.: Our programs and classrooms are well rated, we can improve playgrounds and parking
- Wellbeing – social and emotional development: Very positive feedback on transition, programs and culture, work to do on communication
- Community and Family Engagement: Welcoming atmosphere, improve preschool communication and parental involvement
Remember there is still time for you to contribute your thoughts with an online survey open until Friday. For preschool families there is also a separate survey to capture your specific feedback

In other news, we it was pleasing to hear that festival preparations are coming along well, with some additional parents putting their hands up to help organise the day. This is our big fundraiser and we usually target $10,000+, so we appreciate your support in putting on and attending the festival in November. The OSHC/Preschool committee are recruiting a new coordinator for OSHC as well as planning fees and programs for 2020. Facilities continues to focus on works around the school, with some tree work scheduled, and lots of great ideas for when the festival money rolls in!
As always please reach out with any feedback and I hope you have a great spring holidays.
