Teaching and Learning with Mr. Baker

What a terrific start to the year it has been with the teaching and learning across all of our classrooms at Ballan PS. It has been a pleasure to visit and work in classrooms with teachers and students with a focus on Literacy and Numeracy. 

In Numeracy, during the early weeks of Term 1 we have a whole school focus on Number and Place Value. Students work independently and in small groups and engage in hands on activities and games as well as using ICT (Studyladder and My Numeracy tasks). In Literacy, students have been focusing on spelling sounds, handwriting, reading, writing as well as speaking and listening. 

To assist teachers at the beginning of the year to get to know their new class academically, students have engaged in completing a number of assessments in Literacy and Numeracy through our existing and new assessment platforms.

For our Grade 3 and Grade 5 parents and carers, please find a NAPLAN information flyer below. Miss Leehane and I (NAPLAN co-ordinators) are finalising our NAPLAN schedule and we will provide exact dates of tests in upcoming newsletters and communicate to families via XUNO. The NAPLAN test window starts on Wednesday 15th March and finishes on Monday 27th March, 2023.
