My experience as a content creator
This term, I had the privilege of attending a Social Media and Content Creation workshop facilitated by Ms Aceglav.
During the workshop, we learnt that the use of social media should not just be limited to posting and creating dance videos on TikTok and selfies on Instagram. It is also a giant factor in many things that's happening in this big wide world. We learnt how social media can create competitive advantage for big brands and influencers alike. This workshop helped me understand that social media isn’t just what most people think it is - a distraction.
This workshop taught us that skills in social media and content creation can actually lead to careers in the future. It can also help us develop skills that are transferable to other jobs. For instance, it can teach us to write in various digital text types such as blogs, vlogs, online reviews, and advertisements.
We also learnt that social media platforms can be crucial to businesses and organisations in terms of expanding their brand, attracting more customers, collecting feedback, fostering brand recognition, and eventually building customer loyalty.
I would describe my experience as a great and enjoyable time. I got to work with my friend, Marilyn, and we were able to receive valuable feedback from all the other groups around us and our teachers.
The aim of our activity or task was to create an advertisement for an item that we chose ourselves. We chose coffee beans and therefore, Marilyn and I created a coffee bean advertisement in both photo and video form. They turned out absolutely amazing and lovely. We are really proud of our work.
Seeing everyone's photos, stop motions, and videos was a delightful experience. It really made me gain more perspective on how important content creation is when we think about the world we live in.
In a nutshell, the workshop helped me realise how our digital lifestyle can lead to future work opportunities and how individuals can make a brand out of their own lives with the right skill set.
