Assessment and study tips

As we reach the midway point of the term, students will now be in the process of completing assessments for each of their subjects.  Although assessments can often feel overwhelming, they provide a fantastic opportunity for students to demonstrate their learning and gain a deeper understanding of their strengths and areas for improvement.

Some tips for successful assessment:

  • Review your notes: Take some time to go through your class notes and make sure you understand the concepts covered in class. If there's something you don't understand, ask your teacher for help.
  • Create a study schedule: Don't wait until the last minute to start studying. Make a study schedule and stick to it. Set aside time each day to review your notes, practice problems, and study for upcoming tests.
  • Practice, practice, practice: One of the best ways to prepare for assessments is to practice. Work through practice problems, take practice quizzes, and review past exams. This will help you identify areas where you need to improve.
  • Get help if you need it: Don't be afraid to ask for help if you're struggling with a particular topic. Talk to your teacher, attend Connect After the Bell tutoring sessions, or form a study group with your classmates.
  • Take care of yourself: Get enough sleep, eat well, and exercise regularly. A healthy body and mind will help you perform better on assessments.

Remember, assessments are an opportunity to show what you've learned and how you've grown. By preparing well, you can approach them with confidence and succeed.

Partners in Learning

We will be having our first Parent Information Session and P&C meeting this coming Monday, 6 March 2023 at 6:30pm. These meetings are held online via Zoom and each meeting will have a different focus. Topics could include anything from school news, support structures and activities, study tips, online safety, new initiatives and anything else that parents request during the course of these meetings. The meeting details will be sent to you prior to the meeting.

At the end of the Parent Information Session, we conduct our P&C meeting.  On Monday, we will be holding our Annual General Meeting to elect new members of our P&C executive. This is a fabulous opportunity for you to become a key driver of improvement at the school and be at the forefront of decision making relating to your child's learning.

What is even more exciting is that this year, we will begin work on our new buildings and classrooms and the P&C will play a role in the development of this project. If you feel that you are able to contribute some time to be on the P&C, please nominate for a role during the meeting on Monday. Roles include President, Vice President (two positions), Treasurer and Secretary. We would love to welcome some new faces to the team!

If you have any questions, please contact the school.
