Diocesan Swimming Carnival

On Friday 24th February, the Armidale Diocesan Primary Swimming Carnival was held at Gunnedah pool. Two hundred and ninety children from the Catholic Primary Schools around our area competed at the carnival. We had many children break their personal best times, compete with big smiles and display fantastic sportsmanship throughout the day.

We had a few students break the Armidale Diocesan Swimming records:

St Xavier's Gunnedah Senior Girls Relay Team (Molly Ramien, Matilda Denovan, Eugenie Goddard & Alexis Whitton) 2:13.39; the previous record was 2:21.73

Alexis Whitton broke the 12 yrs 50m Freestyle with 30.54; the previous record was 31.03

Josh Spinks broke the 11 yrs 50m Butterfly with 35.04; the previous record was 35.97

Alexis Whitton broke 12 yrs girls 50m Backstroke with 36.74; the previous time was 37.47

Congratulations to Felicity who plays in the Tamworth U11s Rep Cricket Team and on the weekend they played in the Grand Final against Armidale and won!

Felicity took 2 wickets and a great catch giving her the nickname “Safe Hands Shieldsy”

Here is an article in the local paper for this week.

Touch Football News

Cash Hoffman in 5Q represented Tamworth at the Touch Junior State Cup in the Under 12 Boys Division.

This was the team's first entry into representative touch after having the same carnival cancelled last year. Although the team didn’t make the finals, they played with great sportsmanship the whole carnival. Cash showed some amazing talent and made some great friendships along the way!
