Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden

Term 1 - Ros Hill

IN THE GARDEN

Our garden keeps on producing delicious food for the Kitchen groups to use.

We also found an enormous zucchini and had a lot of fun guessing the weight using a kilo of flour and a glove as  comparison.

Congratulations Arsan! He won the zucchini.

Our chooks are busy each morning laying fresh eggs. When in the garden they busily attack any green leaves they can find, so we are growing new foods for them and, hopefully they leave some for us.

IN THE KITCHEN

Thank you to the kind person who donated some tea towels for our use. This is much appreciated.  Our recipes this week and next use food items harvested from our garden. See the recipes below.

The children are becoming more confident reading and following recipes and finding equipment they need. We have a rule  in the kitchen "Ask three before me" which means, seek help and guidance from your team mates before asking an adult. They can learn so much from each other.

Interpreting "Cook beans in a large pot of boiling salted water" led to discussions about the order of putting the beans in the water and what 'boiling' looked like.
