Quick Stix Program

In Physical Education this term students from Grades 1 to 6 are involved in a four week Quick Stix incursion with a coach organised by Lacrosse Australia.  Pictured below is our Tuesday/Wednesday coach, Merric who plays for the Brunswick Lacrosse Club and has played for Victoria in various championships. He has played lacrosse since he was 13 years old.  Quick Stix is a modified lacrosse game that is teaching students how to get their head over the ball when scooping a ball from the ground, correct hand position for throwing and catching on a lacrosse stick and a variety of modified games to practice skills.  Foundation students are also involved in this program but I am teaching this program.

Summer Interschool Sport Gala Day

On Friday 24th February all Grade 5/6 students spent an enjoyable day competing in the summer Interschool Sport, Gala Day.  Students competed in a range of sports:

• Volleybounce
• Kanga 8’s Cricket
• Hot Shots Tennis
• Sof- crosse 
• Basketball. 

A big thank you to our Captains and Vice Captains - Naomi, Stephanie, Noah, Oscar, Isla, Elaina, Hon, Tom, Hailey, Leah, Kaveen, Ayden, Lexi, Sienna, Jai and Lucas – our teams were properly equipped and organised.

We are yet to be notified of which teams will progress to the Warrandyte South District final, however, our Kanga 8’s Girls team won two matches and lost one, so we are hopeful they have made it through.  Thank you to Dan (Naomi’s father) who assisted with the girls’ basketball team…and washed all of the basketball singlets. 😊

District Swimming Carnival

The District Swimming Carnival was held at Tintern Grammar on Monday 27 February.  Our District Swimming team comprised of – Amani, Adrian, Edward and Jayden. Students swam against competitors from local schools in our sporting district.  Adrian, Edward and Jayden have qualified for the Division Swimming carnival at Aquanation on 9 March.  A notice will be emailed to parents via Compass this week.  Well done to ALL of our swimmers and thank you to Vivian for being Team organiser!!

District Tennis

Benyamin from Grade 6 has entered the District Tennis tournament held at Yarra Valley Grammar on Friday 3 March.    He will compete against boys from schools within the Warrandyte South District.  Good luck Ben!

Downball Donation

THANK YOU to Ivan for his downball donation! Students will enjoy playing with this equipment during recess and lunch times.  Remember to return all equipment to the red trolley when you have finished playing with it.
