Year 7 Camp
Year seven transition camp was a blast! All of us had a fantastic time with all the activities and meeting new people. Starting a new school might be rough for some people, some kids might not know anybody, so they have made this camp so everybody can get out of their comfort zone and make new friends that they didn’t think they would be friends with. We all had a great time! - Lailah Firth 7D
This week, our Year 7 students, along with thirty seven Year 10 Peer Support Leaders, travelled to Campaspe Downs from Monday to Friday.
Students undertook a range of activities across the three days including abseiling, rock climbing, archery, initiative games, a challenge course, canoeing, raft building and the Leap of Faith.
Students also undertook two evening activities, including Capture the Flag and a Trivia Night run by our Peer Support Leaders. Both activities were a big success and we were able to see a new competitive side to some of our students (AND STAFF!).
Students exceeded our expectations, with many challenging themselves in various ways. Some conquered their fear of heights or tried a new activity that scared them whilst others challenged themselves by meeting new people and finding new friends.
Students were able to mix and mingle at meal times. They were placed with different groups for each meal, assisting them to see as many faces in their year level as possible.
The weather was great on Monday and Wednesday with a sunny 31 degrees. Tuesday was a little cooler and quite windy. That certainly didn't impact our students, with many still going for a swim whilst completing their water activities for the day. Overall, the camp was a great success, with students and staff returning with full bellies and big smiles.
